• Operation of a digital camera
• Photographic composition
• Using software to adjust and create digital images, compositions, and programs
Grading
Students will be involved in a variety of oral and written evaluations, as well as demonstration of topic mastery. Each assignment will be worth a certain number of points. Students should plan to participate in all assigned activities. Participation grades are given. Grading scale: A = 90–100; B = 80–89; C = 70–79; D = 60–69; F = 59
or below. Attendance is a very important part of class participation. Students should arrange to make up all missed work during prearranged after-school sessions. In some cases, work can be made up during class.
Supplies
Students should bring a 3-ring binder, paper, pencil, and their class assignment sheets to class each day. Students will also need to provide a dedicated USB drive to class to transport projects between home and school. Please do not bring additional unnecessary materials to class. Note: Permanent markers (“Sharpie,” etc.) are not allowed in the classroom.
Camera guidelines:
We have a limited supply of school digital cameras. I encourage students to utilize their phone cameras and/or a personal digital camera for creating photographic images. Students who plan on using their own cameras and/or phones will need to bring a connector cord to class so images can be transferred from the camera to the computer.
Behavior Guidelines
Students should plan to be on their best behavior during class. This includes respecting the teacher, the students, and the materials in the classroom. Students should raise their hands before speaking and listen care- fully to all instructions. Restroom breaks should be taken between classes. In case of emergency, a 5-minute restroom break is allowed.
Discipline Plan
Step one: verbal warning or reprimand
Step two: change of seating assignment, isolation in classroom, or removal of privilege
Step three: after school or lunch detention* and parental contact
Step five: formal referral to school administration
*Lunch detention may also be given for homework not completed, or for a third tardy to class.
Note: Certain violations of the Student Code of Conduct are considered “severe,” and result in immediate referral to the administration.
